In Mosul, Iraq, at least 92 people were killed Thursday after a ferry capsized and sank in the Tigris River. Many of the dead were children. The ferry was overloaded with people celebrating the Kurdish new year marking the start of spring.

Sayoc was arrested in late October at a Florida auto parts store. "I sent all 16 devices with the intent to threaten or intimidate", Sayoc said in court. He could get life in prison at sentencing September 12 on 65 counts, including 16 counts of using a weapon of mass destruction and mailing explosives with intent to kill.
